My coffee dilema
| From New York City |
I’m not quite sure what to file this under, but I’ve suddenly developed an intolerance to coffee. I’ve been in NYC for 9 days, and I’ve only had coffee once and I couldn’t even finish the damn thing.
I’ve been googling (and binging) my “symptoms” and from what I gather, its because of stress or I have grown an allergic reaction to it.
On a side note, I discovered something that you can do with coffee that made me clench
Now coffee and me is as synonimous as me and my bad taste in music (to others). So I’m sitting in a coffee shop right now as I right this, and I’m drinking green tea.#FML
Now at the same time that I’ve discovered this new intolerance, I’ve also realized I can drink more alcohol in the city than I ever could back home. So did something happen to me?? A cruel joke? WTF?
Answers please!!
twitter is killing my blog and thoughts stored in my head
While sipping my coffee, I remembered that I have a blog! Yes, this little page that houses some of my random deep thoughts. I am allowing to much time to pass between posts. SO I am blaming Twitter. Or perhaps I’ve just become really lazy, or my mind has gone dry and I’m unable to create anything witty. But it’s not me, it’s YOU Twitter, you’ve made my need to broadcast my life into an easy process.
I am not quite sure if anyone reads this anymore, but if you do, guess what? I’m moving. It has come time for me to leave San Francisco, which I will miss DEARLY. But there’s a part of me that’s always wanted to experience the buzz that is…
So yes, I’m moving to ….
I should be there around July (no later)
will you take me out for coffee?
am I losing my mind?
So I’m watching Juno and Yahoo’s results
I really should have watched more TV during my sabbatical, I’m such a loser. I tend to watch a movie once, and then never watch again unless it’s on cable or something like that. I think I own 4 dvds, and High Fidelity has been with me for like 7 years.
So for the last 29 minutes I’ve had this temporary memory loss where I couldn’t figure out who I saw Juno with, driving me nuts. Because I known I had seen it in the theater. And then it HIT ME. Funny how life brings you hundreds of people to you, and then they just disappear.

So watching this movie brings some weird memories and emotions, and I love this quote: “I bought another Sonic Youth album and it just sucks, it’s just noise”. I never really got into Sonic Youth, but I wish I would have seen them at least once (live) in the 90s.
back in Silicon land…
I am in love with Carol Bartz, I’ve confessed it on Facebook. She’s all killer no filler and the best thing that could possibly happen to Yahoo; aside from them getting a bigger share of that advertising pie that is cemented at an Ihop in Mountain View.
The 4th QTR earnings were slightly less horrific than eBay’s, but the market’s reaction seems to be much tamer. Perhaps Y! is turning the corner, at least with the suits.
Some highlights (yes, I’m a geek)
- The company is not providing full year guidance due to economic uncertainty
- No shares repurchased in the quarter (I forgot to listen to the eBay one, did they?)
- Yahoo News set traffic record on inauguration day (wonder what the paid search/ad revenue was that day)
I’m happy when it rains

MMMM, Coffee
I’m getting to the home stretch of my sabbatical and today is just perfect for staying in and catching up on my thoughts. I tend to store “thoughts” away for a rainy day (pun intended) and address them when most appropriate.
I had a great night yesterday; met Michael for drinks at Jade, then headed to Amelie to meet up with Wendy & Erik to enjoy a nice glass of Malbec (and scarf on their cheese plate). Michael and I then went to Brick to eat (they have some damn good meat). I woke up to raindrops and a good feeling about “things” in general.
Gizmo is still sick, so I dropped him off at the Vet and I’m hanging at my friend Jenny’s house (she lives around the corner from the Vet) until they release him. Being in someone’s home always brings awkwardness. Like do you use their toilet for #2 or not? I would allow someone to drop the kids off at my place, so the answer is YES, right?
I thought it was too, then Rocky gave me this look:

So I’m just gonna hold it (the thought)
“Talking fast on the edge of nothing, I would break my back for you”
I’m such a whore for wi-fi
| From at the airport |
So I’m at the airport, waiting for my soon to be delayed flight. I couldn’t get a signal to save my life, so I saw a “smoke lounge” that had free wi-fi. Yes, I did it, I went in and felt guilty that I wasn’t smoking so I bought a pack, lit one up and let it burn. Though I also did enjoy a tasty latte, not sure if that cancels out the cig.
I’m going to hell, but at least I was able to post this for you
Organic lunch, oh yum!
After taking some drugs for my tummy and drinking lots of NON TAP water, I made my way down to the plaza for lunch. Though I have quickly become in love with the local street food vendors, I didn’t want to risk putting myself back to how I felt early this morning. I came across a restaurant called “Greens” which boasts itself as being an Organic joint. I had the tastiest coffee this side of Four Barrel‘s in the Mission. I also scarfed down a hummus wrap with roasted vegetables. The hummus definitely tasted different than what I consider hummus to taste like, but in a good way. Very fresh. After my lunch I burnt some calories by walking around the plaza and taking some time to smell the fresh air, it had recently rained (like everyday I’ve been here).
Now I need to start finalizing my plans for the next 2 days, as that’s all I have left in Cusco, aside from any unforeseen plane delays (crossing fingers).
While grabbing coffee

Hannah and the Americano
I stopped by Starbucks to get my usual Americano and I ran into Hannah, who was working on something spectacular, I’m sure of it. Or looking at porn.
And I’m here
Now that I’ve come down from the high of loving my new laptop (see previous post), I’m coming to terms with a few things:
1) It’s going to be cold this month
2) There will be a lot of free time on my hands, so I need to be productive while also allowing myself to splurge on “life”
So I found myself in exactly that position this morning and day, so I “attempted” to import my itunes library to my new laptop which only resulted in frustration. I accidentally duplicated the whole library, so honestly, bigger is not better (ladies). I’m really anal when it comes to my itunes library, so I’m sitting here at the Greenhouse Effect coffee shop attempting to rectify this situation. I’m also enjoying a 3 shot Americano. This is a nice cafe, my first time here. I find myself going back and forth between my headphones/ipod and what they’re playing overheard. This s a GOOD problem to have, most of the time places like this just recreate the atmosphere at a a Chili’s. (you know, turn on Sirius radio and allow us to hear Whitesnake three times before we even get our main entree)

they have crepes!
