LAX to Lima
As you could tell (from my previous post), I was a little paranoid about my trip down South. I tend to be over pessimistic when it comes to things like travel, just so I can be OVERLY elated by what actually happens. I’m happy to say that my luggage arrived safely, as did I. With long trips, I’m always worried about who the F@$#3 I’ll end up sitting next to and whether they’ll end up hating me because of my small bladder.
I am happy to report that I ended up sitting next to a really cool girl who A) Didn’t mind my small bladder B) Was a good conversationalist with an altruistic heart
Because of A & B, we talked for about 4 of the 8 1/2 hour trip about a lot of stuff, and it was entertaining. I ONLY had to take 1/2 a Valium. So if the first day is indicative of what’s to come…I’m excited about my month down here.
My first meal in Peru was Chicken McNuggets, but there really is not much of a “selection” at an airport.
Side note: My friend Lyndsay Cruz rocks, she let me stay at her place, she’s taking care of my car while I’m gone and she drove me/will be picking me up from the airport. Can you say “FRIEND”?
Indecisive? Not at all, Over thinker? Why YES!
It’s nearly 12:30 in the morning and I’ve been on this laptop for about 5 hours attempting to create an agenda for my trip. As my title implies, I don’t necessarily think I’m indecisive, I just like to analyze things to get the biggest bang for my time. I keep re-thinking my plan to start in Santiago, because ideally I would want to load up on wine from Argentina AND Chile and then take it back to the States. I doubt I could lug around a case of wine to Cuzco, Quito and then Lima.
So what does this mean? Pretty much I have an airline charge in my future, rats. And Machu Picchu, and the Inca trail…god, do I really want to walk that much?? I have the worst back this side of Greg Oden.
I am seeing the Doctor today (Monday), everyone please send me karma that he sends me home with soma and xanax. Though with my luck, I’ll come home with an overpriced prescription for 800mg ibuprofen.
Over and out!
